It has recently come to my attention how little time there is left in the school year. And when I catch myself thinking “Where has all the time gone?!”, I am reminded of this verse in Psalm 90:
Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom. — Psalm 90:12 (NIV)
Here, the prayer is not that we would know the exact number of days left in our lives. Instead, the prayer is that we would understand the frailty of life, how quickly life on earth can pass us by, and that we would view our lives as God does–to act as if we could see the whole of our life here on earth. With this kind of perspective, what would you spend your time on? What friendships would you invest in? Who would you show more love to? Brothers and sisters, I pray that we would live our everyday lives so that when we look back, we would not regret our actions. I pray that we would always seek the wisdom of God, fear the Lord, serve whole-heartedly, and love unconditionally. If we live this kind of life, we won’t look back at our time with regret, but joy in our use of the time God has given us here on earth.
