Let Us Tell of What He Has Done

As we prepare our hearts for Bible study this Friday, and next Thursday’s year prayer night, I am reminded of something we learned in our last Bible study.  As Christians, we have had the veil over our hearts removed, allowing us to see God’s glory (2 Corinthians 15-16).  And what a blessing that is–it is only through turning to God that the veil is taken away–this is nothing we can do on our own.

So what can we do with the ability to see God’s glory?  We can praise God!  In Psalm 66, the psalmist writes of how He praises God through his offerings to God (verses 13-15), through conscientiously paying the vows he made to God when he was in trouble (verses 13-14), and through his declarations to his friends (verse 16).  Psalm 66:16 reads:

“Come and hear, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what he has done for me.”

KCCF, I pray that you may bring others to praise God by telling them about the work He has done in your life.  Telling others allows them to help you further glorify and praise our great and mighty God (I know that’s confusing… feel free to read that sentence again).  It will also edify and encourage them (Psalm 34:2).  Brothers and sisters, let us not waste our God-given ability to see how He is working, and let us give Him all the glory, honour, and praise!

NomCom: Nominations for Next Year’s Committee

Dear KCCF,

The following is a list of the members of this year’s Nomination Committee:

  • Angel Lee
  • Jessica Louie
  • Jim Yang
  • Joseph Chu
  • Joseph Kung
  • Melissa Leung
  • Samuel Mok

We sincerely ask for your prayers as we enter the second half of our Committee formation process. This second half deals with nominating members of KCCF that you believe would be suitable to serve on Committee next year.

Before nominating, I urge you to consult what Scripture has to say about leaders, found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-16. While these mentioned qualifications are meant for leaders in a church, we may extract the qualifications which apply to leaders serving on KCCF. Please base your nominations on what is written in the Bible, and on a person’s spiritual gifts, according to what is required by each role on Committee.

Please follow this link to the PowerPoint presentation outlining the responsibilities of each role on Committee.

In addition, I sincerely ask you to keep all of your nominations confidential. Do not let your nominee, or anyone else, know that you have nominated them. I ask this of you for two reasons:

  1. The only effective way to stop gossip is to prevent it from starting.
  2. It is very important that all nominees seek God first and foremost in the decision to accept or decline their candidacy, before seeking any other people.

Finally, here is a list of important dates to keep in mind:

  • Nominations for next year’s Committee due: Thursday, February 16th
  • Written applications due for nominees who accepted candidacy: Friday, February 24th
  • Tentative Committee presented to KCCF by NomCom: Friday, March 9th
  • Reverse vote: Wednesday, March 14th
  • Finalized Committee presented to KCCF by NomCom: Friday, March 16th (fallback: Friday, March 23rd)

Please do not hesitate to contact NomCom by emailing kccf.nomcom@gmail.com if you have any further questions.

Blessings,

-seph
