Numbering Our Days

It has recently come to my attention how little time there is left in the school year.  And when I catch myself thinking “Where has all the time gone?!”, I am reminded of this verse in Psalm 90:

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom. — Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Here, the prayer is not that we would know the exact number of days left in our lives.  Instead, the prayer is that we would understand the frailty of life, how quickly life on earth can pass us by, and that we would view our lives as God does–to act as if we could see the whole of our life here on earth.  With this kind of perspective, what would you spend your time on?  What friendships would you invest in?  Who would you show more love to?  Brothers and sisters, I pray that we would live our everyday lives so that when we look back, we would not regret our actions.  I pray that we would always seek the wisdom of God, fear the Lord, serve whole-heartedly, and love unconditionally.  If we live this kind of life, we won’t look back at our time with regret, but joy in our use of the time God has given us here on earth.

He Has Done Marvelous Things

I was overwhelmed with joy after this past Saturday’s Iron Chef event.  It was so wonderful to come together as a fellowship and work together to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.  After the event, there were people in the audience who began to ask questions about God, and others who were led by God to repent of their sins.  Praise God for the work He has done through us!  I am so thankful for this fellowship of Christ followers, and I pray that you will continue talking to your non-Christian friends about the Gospel — not out of “duty” but because we can’t help but talk about our great, awesome, and mighty God!  It reminds me of Psalm 98, which reads:

Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
The LORD has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations. — Psalm 98:1-2

Brothers and sisters, God’s work of salvation through Jesus Christ is a truly marvelous thing.  It is nothing that we have done to earn our salvation, but rather, it is God’s power, grace, and faithfulness — that He sent His Son to die on a cross, raise Him from the dead, and exalt Him to the right hand of God.  And it is through our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour that we are forgiven of our sins and granted eternal life.  The power of the Gospel is life-changing, and may all the glory, power, and praise be to our God, who chooses to use us to spread this Good News to those around us!

Prayers of Thanksgiving and Joy

I am always so encouraged by you, my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!  I am encouraged by your devotion to serving the Lord, and the love you demonstrate to others.  And as the school year slowly draws to a close, I echo Paul’s words in Philippians 1:3-5.  It reads:

I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now…” – Philippians 1:3-5 (NIV)

Friends, I am praying for you.  Every time I think of KCCF, my heart is filled with joy because of the work that God is doing in and through us as a fellowship, and the joy we have in fellowshipping with one another.  So similarly, even though school is busy and life is hectic, I encourage you to start/continue praying for your friends.  Cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving and praise God for the brothers and sisters He has blessed you with.  If you take the time and look around you, you will see that we are very blessed indeed :)
