Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we need a Nomination Committee?
Through out the Bible, godly leaders were not voted to their position, but appointed to the responsibility. We see this from Abraham all the way to Timothy. Leaders were chosen by people who seek God’s will and are attentive to His voice. This is why we believe that a committee of God fearing sons and daughters who love him and listen to Him should be formed to seek His will in the next phase in leadership.
What are the responsibilities of the Nomination Committee?
The Nomination Committee will be responsible for selecting the 2010-2011 Executive and Sub-Committee. They will be appointing the next Chair, English Vice Chair, Chinese Vice chair, Bible Study Coordinators, Discipleship and Devotional Coordinator, Treasurer, Worship Coordinator, Retreat Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator and Prayer Coordinator.
This process usually includes a detailed review and interview process with the nominees followed by extensive deliberation process and most importantly prayer.
Who are we looking for to be on the Nomination Committee?
As mentioned above, we are looking for God fearing sons and daughters who love him and listen to Him. Nomination Committee members cannot be voted into the 2010-2011 Executive or Sub-Committee, so if you are considering being on Committee Leadership next year, Nomination Committee is not for you. Nomination Committee must consist of 3 members from the 2009-2010 Committee, 1 of which has to be from the Executive committee, and 4 members from the fellowship at large.
How does the time commitment for the Nomination Committee look like?
The nomination committee will have to work under a defined timeline designated by the current executive committee. This means, there will be a lot to get through under a short amount of time. Meetings in the past lasted up to 8 hours and interviews may take up several hours during the week.
How do I nominate someone to be on the Nomination Committee?
You can simply email kingston.ccf@gmail.com put “Nomination Committee Nominee” under the subject and indicate the name(s) of the person you want to nominate in the email. If you feel called to be on the nomination committee, we encourage you to nominate yourself.
What happens after I nominate someone for Nomination Committee?
After the nomination process, the nominees will receive an email asking them to either accept or decline the nomination. They will have about a week to do so. On Feb 5th during KCCF there will be a ballot vote for the appointment of the Nomination Committee. Once the nominees have been informed of the results, the fellowship at large will be notified via electronic media (website and email).
Who will review the nominations and count the votes?
Christopher Ng (Chair), Melissa Lam (English Vice-Chair) and Cindy Kwong (Chinese Vice-Chair) will be reviewing and notifying the nominees. They will also be responsible to counting the votes on Feb 5th’s appointment voting for the Nomination Committee. All nominations will be treated in confidence.
