Homeless Krystal (krystal.lee.d@gmail.com)
The Homeless Ministry Group is just a small group of students who desire to reach out to people in love. We don’t want to throw money at people to make ourselves feel good, we want to sit down beside them, ask their name, and pray with them. We want to hear their story and share our own.
We will be going to the Gathering Place in the Salvation Army Church (326 Alfred St.), which is a day shelter where people can get free food. The Gathering Place is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and Sundays 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. In the past we have also done a “night on the street” and spent time downtown handing out hot chocolate or bagged lunches. As the Homeless Ministry Group forms and shares ideas of how to show love to the poor, we may get involved with other activities and even host special events.
Prison Clemence (clemence.tsang@gmail.com)
Prison ministry is one of understanding our sins and the grace that has been extended to not just us, but also to the prisoners. It is about reaching out to the people society would love to forget. As children of God, we understand that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23). This does not exclude us, nor does it exclude the prisoners. They are people made in the image of God just as we are, but living the consequences of their decisions in their lives differently. Are they not people who need to see God and experience his forgiveness?
This year, a few of us will be joining the Children Visiting Prisons (CVP) program with the Kingston community and entering the prisons to engage with children who have an incarcerated parent”. One or two of us will also be part of the Prison Literacy Initiative and will be teaching inmates English and other languages. Later on, we will be gathering together to write Christmas cards for prisoners as well as praying for the prisons and prisoners throughout the year.

Drime Andrew (chanface@gmail.com) or Joe (ichthuslives@gmail.com)
KCCF Drime is a group dedicated to building Christ centered relationships between one another. As an outreach ministry we feel that it is essential to know, understand and have Christ centered relationships to be able to show others what a relationship with Jesus Christ actually means. Through our drime ministry we hope to touch the hearts of those seeking Christ not through words but through music and, well mime…or actions (for lack of better words).
As relationships are central to our group, the structure of our drime meets will begin with a mini devotion or bible verse in which to meditate on throughout the session. Following this we will move into a practice session and end off with optional ‘prayer group’ time in which members are given the opportunity to pray and care for one another. We hope to have prepared 2 productions throughout the year (1/semester). If you’re looking to serve in a ministry and you’re interested in drama, music or even choreography, check us out!
J.A.M. Season (seasonkam@gmail.com) or Janice (lee.janicec@gmail.com)
J.A.M (Jesus and Me) is an after-school program run in partnership with the Salvation Army that reaches out to children and their families in the Rideau Heights area of Kingston.
It exists to show the love of Christ through word and deed, using Bible stories, games, crafts and activities. As we try to meet the many emotional and physical needs of the children, we hope to also meet their greatest spiritual need as well through helping them grow closer to Jesus Christ.
J.A.M will be held twice a week this year so if you love kids or just want to try it out, please join us!
Street Harry (harryhzhou@gmail.com) or Stephen (pengi@rogers.com)
The ultimate purpose of the street evangelism ministry is to share the Gospel and to extend the love of God to those who do not yet know God on Queen’s Campus.
The street ministry is a group of CCF members who go to Mac-Corry cafeteria during lunch time on weekdays to evangelize to our peer students. We split up into groups of three or four people to go on separate days. Before evangelizing, we would pray together in a quiet place. Generally, we would approach people who are eating alone in the cafeteria and we would begin the conversations by asking them if they are interested in share their opinions on religion and Christian faith. Of course, some would not be comfortable discussing issues like religion; however, the majority of the people we met were very open and willing to share their opinions and concerns. It is truly amazing to be able to have a glimpse of a person’s life and to hear the range of opinions through each conversation. Although our time with them is often limited, God invariably plants seeds in his or her heart. We do our best to follow up with these people and invite them to events such as outreach night and “friendship potlucks”, where we can share the Gospel with them more extensively.
International Harry (harryhzhou@gmail.com) or Stephen (pengi@rogers.com)
The ultimate purpose of international student ministry is to share the Gospel and to extend the love of God to those who do not yet know God on Queen’s Campus.
Last year, the international ministry mainly involved sharing the Gospel to the students at the International Student Center (ISC) in the JDUC. Lots of the international students at the ISC are from China and they are never exposed to the Gospel before. At the same time, because of being long way from home, these students often struggle with adapting to the new environment and the new language. Therefore, the goal of our ministry this year is to share the gospel to these students and also extend God’s love by involving them in our lives. Last year, the CCF team built friendships with the students at ISC and invited them to events such as Cooking Contest, Outreach Night, and “friendship potluck”. It was incredible to see how God slowly transformed these people and fostered their desire to learn more about Him.
