Deliverance through Christ

Coming back from retreat, I hope that God has revealed to you the idols in your life, and I pray that God has shown you the sin that you need to fight.  And as we identify our sin and fight against temptation in our pursuit of holiness, there will be times when we will feel discouraged.  As it says in Romans,

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! – Romans 7:21-25

Brothers and sisters, when you are feeling discouraged, always remember to lift up your eyes to praise God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who has already saved us from all of our sins!

The NomCom Process

Please read the following carefully and know that all these steps require your prayers and each of us earnestly seeking of God’s will in our daily lives. The process of Nomcom formation requires biblical discernment, which is done only through the Holy Spirit.

“But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.” – 1 Corinthians 2: 9-13

*NOTE* In order to participate in this process, you must be a member of KCCF. KCCF membership entails that you must be a Christian and must be an active member in KCCF (e.g. attend DG and weekly Friday nights consistently)

1) What is NOMCOM?

Nomcom is a group of individuals, chosen by the fellowship ,whose role it is to select members that will form KCCF’s committee for the following year, which in this case would be 2012-2013. This is done by means of fellowship nomination, prayer and biblical discernment. Ideally, NomCom is comprised of seven people; four are taken from the fellowship at large, and three are taken from the existing committee. Please note that at least one of the three committee members on nomcom must be from the current executive committee – which is made up of the Chair, both the English and Chinese vice chairs, and the bible study co-ordinators. In the case there are fewer than 7 members on NomCom, see the KCCF Constitution, Article VII.  The purpose of Nomcom is to discern these second round nominations and make the final call as to who will be on committee next year.*Those who are on nomination committee cannot be on the committee of 2012-2013.*

2) How is NOMCOM formed?

There are 4 main steps

  1. The members of fellowship will nominate individuals (and this can include yourself) via email to kccf.nomcom@gmail.com
  2. Individuals nominated will be notified and given the option to either accept the nomination or decline it.
  3. Those who choose to accept their nomination will be required to answer three questions that will act as a guide to help the fellowship assess each nominee before voting. The answers of these questions will be accessible online via our website.
  4. The names of all individuals who accepted their nomination will be placed on a ballot and a vote will take place. Nomcom will be formed based on the results of that vote.

3) The Questions

As mentioned before, those who choose to accept their nomination will be asked to answer three questions. The purpose of these questions is to allow each individual to reflect and assess whether or not they should actually accept the nomination in the first place, and given that they do, provide those in the fellowship who do not know the individually personally with more information about them in regards to this process. The questions are as follows:

  1. What is the Gospel and how has it affected your life?
  2. What is Biblical discernment?
  3. How has God led you to accept this nomination?

4) Dates

Monday January 23rd – Nominations for Nomcom are due. Nominees will be notified

Wednesday January 25th – Nominees must accept or decline their nomination.

Friday January 27th – Upon acceptance, nominees must submit their answers to the 3 questions.

Wednesday February 1st – Voting for Nomcom takes place.

5) Now What?

So after reading all of this, there are a few things that you are responsible for doing

  1. PRAY – this process needs your prayer. Pray that God places individuals on your heart that you feel are suited for this.
  2. ASK QUESTIONS – if you do not understand this process and is TOTALLY confused or just want to know more, PLEASE do not hesitate to email us at kingston.ccf@gmail.com
  3. NOMINATE – If you know of individuals who you feel is gifted in the area of discernment and is called by God to be part of Nomcom, please nominate them by February 2nd at 11:59pm. Send all nominations to kccf.nomcom@gmail.com

Thanks KCCF. Let us continue to strive to seek God first in this process.
